How to Bake Fluffy and Perfect Sandwich Bread with Ease: No Fancy Tools Required
Ingredients:
3 ½ cups all-purpose flour (King Arthur, Pillsbury)
1 packet (2 ¼ tsp) active dry yeast
1 cup warm water (about 110°F)
2 tbsp sugar
2 tbsp unsalted butter, softened (Land O’Lakes)
1 ½ tsp salt
¼ cup whole milk (optional for softer crust)
Instructions:
Activate the Yeast: In a small bowl, mix the warm water, sugar, and yeast. Let it sit for 5-10 minutes until frothy.
Mix the Dough: In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour and salt. Add in the yeast mixture, butter, and milk. Stir until the dough forms.
Knead the Dough: On a lightly floured surface, knead the dough for 8-10 minutes until smooth and elastic. The dough should be slightly sticky but pull away from your hands easily.
First Rise: Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover with a damp towel, and let it rise for 1-2 hours in a warm place until doubled in size.
Shape the Dough: Punch down the dough and shape it into a loaf. Place it in a greased 9×5-inch loaf pan.
Second Rise: Cover the pan and let the dough rise again for about 30-45 minutes until it’s just above the top of the pan.
Bake: Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C). Bake the bread for 30-35 minutes or until the top is golden brown and the bread sounds hollow when tapped.
Cool and Slice: Remove from the oven, let it cool on a wire rack for at least 20 minutes before slicing.
Tips:
Add 1 tablespoon of honey for a sweeter loaf.
Brush with melted butter after baking for a soft crust.
